Kandersteg Switzerland

Summer camp 2009
INTERNATIONAL TRIP

For our scouts and could this be our ultimate road (oops rail) trip. In 2009 it is time for an international journey. After the 2008 trek to the Lake District our scouts have the opportunity to travel to Switzerland via The countries of Europe.

In keeping with our group aim of personal achievement, exploration and community we are heading out by public transport once more traveling light as backpackers on Interrail. It could be madness but the scouts themselves get to pick out the route that we follow by train from Boulogne in France until our arrival in Kandersteg Switzerland. We may get lost along the way but that will be half of the adventure. Of course we will be holding out our hands to those that we meet along the way.

The final programme is in preparation and links are being established with the international groups in Switzerland.

Our fundraising efforts have yielded over half the cost of the trip this year and our families should only have had to raise £200 per seat for the scouts. From teas and confess to bagpacking in tescos and sponsored climbs the scouts have worked hard on raising their own fares to go. We are holding our breath on the last week since the money in from the sponsored event will determine what activities we are able to do when we are away.

Hey! Are you going to be 18 years old this summer (Not you Fraser) then why not sign on the crew for the Kandersteg this summer click here for details

We have ordered new group t-shirts for the trip. These plus our uk scarves will be the way to identify us on the trip.
