The most useful things to pack in a rucksack by Tony
 |
Over many years I have accumulated a small bag in my rucksack of needful things that I rarely travel without. Especially on a survival camp or backwoods. The list has evolved and changed but has the same rules as ever. It has to comprise items that can fit in a small tin box or pouch that can be stuffed in the top pouch of a rucksack. Anyway here is my current list. I still carry copious first aid kits as well as a map and compass. I am always asked why a mobile phone is not on the list. It is a luxury but cannot be just left in your kit at all times unlike the other items! |
The list is in no particular order. My challenges are:-
1. Put the list into rank (how important) and then choose the top 10 only.
2. Are there items that you would put in or substitute?
3. Are there items that you would not choose?
4. What could the items be used for?

All of these items are pretty inexpensive and are usually lying around at home. If you go to any decent outdoor store you will find plastic containers with many of these items but not all of them. Put them in a strong plastic bag or tupperware box and they will last for years. |
