Focus
on Jim Hunnisett
"I
would be pressed to find another leader as able as Jim, lucky he's a friend
too" Tony Thompson
Tony on
Jim:
Jim Hunnisett at first sight is a bit gruff looking. When you speak
to him that image is reinforced by his obviously military background.
Look deeper and you find a real jewel of a man. Jim's great love of
the outdoors, particularly the joy which you see when the man is on
the water gives a hint of why he is so valuable an asset to our scout
troop.
Jim was joint
forces coordinator for outdoor activities for the military and reading
his resume embarrasses most of the instructors that we meet. Not that
Jim makes a big deal of it. He has a great ability to pass on his knowledge
if anyone cares to listen but is not too fussed if they don't. After all
he has the gift of the knowledge and experience.
Jim is in his
second term with Ticehurst scouts and having done a season single handedly
running the group has returned to being a scout leader. Jim is a secret
weapon in that he is so competent in all fields of outdoor pursuits that
the rest of us just trail after him. This summer Jim breezed through a
3* refresher course and was immediately asked to become an instructor
(it was in the plan anyway).
