If you are between 14 and 18 years old and really want a taste of adventure
without somebody telling you what to do all of the time then Explorers
are for you. Avery Explorers is the explorer group servicing Flimwell, Ticehurst, Wadhurst, Mayfield and Stonegate.
Our leaders Rob Burdon, Simon Baldwin and Annie Trinder are always looking for new members from across Ticehurst, Wadhurst, Mayfield and the surrounding area. Both Simon and Rob are in their 20's too and Annie has not even reached that grand old age, so this is not a bunch of lame old fogeys telling you what to do. Simon is interested in Kayaking, Skiing, climbing and shooting. Rob is into kite flying and snow boarding. Annie is a Kayaking and canoe instructor extraordinaire

Avery joins the two other Ashdown district explorer units namely Tullis, based in Crowborough and Mallory at Uckfield. Both units have fabulous programmes
and enthusiastic members so if you are a couch potato then it is likely
that joining may give you the fright of your life.
Already in 2008, Avery explorers have taken part in the National Gilwell winter camp, joining over 2000 other young people from across the UK at the home of UK scouting, Gilwell Park. They took on the best of the county explorers in the Overland Challenge. Swam in the district swimming gala. Avery explorers pioneered at the Kings of the wild frontier camp in June and are set to join Tullis on an expedition to Cornwall later this year as well as the Gilwell 24 marathon event.
